Richard's Story
After high school I studied communication, theatre arts, and economics in college. After graduation, I took off a year to travel, and I pursued a professional degree in performing arts design and technical design upon my return. I have worked as a designer, technical director, and theatre consultant. A professor of stage design, I've taught college and graduate school for nearly 20 years at five different universities, including two in China. I am currently employed as production manager for the University of Iowa, and am also a principal in a theatre consulting company.

married a wonderful woman who shares my passion for the performing arts and international travel. We love adventure and exploration, and we've lived in four states as well as in the country of Taiwan. Together we have seen a lot of Asia, China, Europe, and some parts of Africa. We have three children: a Buckeye, a Yankee, and a Jade Leaf born in Taiwan. We are finally empty nesters this year, and we look forward visiting our children in Africa (Peace Corp) and in NYC (Professional actor training).
