Richard's Story
Life
Retired from D.C. Police Dept. Enjoying Florida weather, heat, sand, sun, fishing and hurricanes. Retired early as I lost an eye and haven't found that sucker yet (yes, I still have warped humor). I married and finally called it quits after seven years of hell. We had one son and thank god he isn't like his mother.
Married again to a super sweet lady and after sixteen years she died of sepic meningitis (excuse the spelling). Packed up everything, sold the house and moved to Florida, land of geezers.
Met a widow who had lost her husband ten months after I lost my wife and things are going rather smooth now. We were married on Sept. 1, 2010.
I'm still into fast wheels. I have a cruising bike that turns the quarter in about 10.9 seconds. The G Force on takeoff will really curl your hair but what a thrill and I love smoking Harleys.
In 2005 I had a heart attack which reminded me that we don't live forever. So, I am out to enjoy life and everything it has to offer.
On a sad note, my brother Bob AKA Robert, AKA Ro Bear passed away December 31, 2009. He graduated from Surrattsville in 1971.
For the past 4 years I have been fighting cancer. I had it in my lymph nodes in my neck, on the base of my tongue and throat. After several months of chemo and radiation the cancer was gone. Less than a year later it came back in my shoulder, neck and lung. I lost all my hair, ALL my hair. Head hair wa...Expand for more
s gone, beard and mustache was gone, hair on my chest (what little I had) was gone, hair on my arms and legs and personal areas was gone. They started more chemo with little results. The section in my lung one doctor wanted to remove half my lung and a surgeon wanted to remove the entire right lung. Wanting more options I contacted The Cancer Treatment Centers of America. They flew my wife and I out to their facility in Goodyear, Arizona and we stayed in their facility which cost us $40 a night. Their facility is nicer than most resorts. I went thru 3 days of tests and scans and they gave me options for treatment none of which included thr removal of any part of my lungs. The people at CTCA treated us like royalty and not a dollar figure. We spent 10 days at CTCA as it was like a vacation. We fell in love with Arizona and have moved here. The cancer I have is from the pathvira virus and not my smoking
Well, as all good things must come to an end, last year CTCA said that I had about a year to live and I am trying to make a liar out of them. As it is, I think I only have about 2 months before I have to checkout and join my brother, my second wife and others who have passed before me.
To all my friends I wish you a long, happy, healthy, loving life and that when your time comes that you die peacefully in your sleep.
