Richard's Story
Let's see, where to start? I left home at 17 and quit school the 26th of February of 1963 and joined the Air Force where I spent the next 8 years. In 1964 I was assigned to Bitburg AFB, Germany. I loved Germany. There is so much history there and beautiful country. While there I started racing sports cars, racing all over.
I returned stateside in 1968 assigned to Mtn. Home AFB in Mtn. Home, Idaho, where I started again racing sports cars and eventually racing stock cars and sprint cars.
I separated from the Air Force in Feb., 1971 and stayed in Idaho, attending Boise State University attending school at night while working as a carpenter during the day. I moved to Boise in 1974 at which time I went to work at the Post Office, while finishing school. The Post Office was a horrible place to work, horrible. I left Idaho in 1978, moving to Whittier, Ca. where again I had my construction company. In 1994, I was recruited by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development(OSHPD) as an Area Compliance Officer. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I was responsible for the oversight of approximately 6 billion dollars of construction.
During this period, I began construction of a 1970 Hemi Dodge Daytona clone to run at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Unfortunately, as it neared completion, I became very ill and disabled, so although 99.9 percent complete, I was never able to run it.
In 2002, I retired and returned to Boise where my wife Beverly and I no...Expand for more

I have 7 children, all of which are grown, 3 of my own and 4 step children, all of which I consider my own. I have been blessed with 11 grand children.
Even suffering with a fatal disease, I can't and don't complain, for God has blessed me beyond belief. His first blessing was an offer of salvation, then being born in this great country in lieu of say Somalia or someplace similar. I have always had clothes on my back, food on the table and a roof over my head. I have been employed since I was 17 continuously, with the exception of 2 six week periods, one of which was vacation after leaving the Air Force. The other period was when my brother-in-law was killed and I spent the next six weeks helping my sister-in-law and her five minor children get back on their feet and through all the problems that surround a sudden death.
So, is it any wonder I say that God has blessed me beyond belief.
I guess that is about all, with this exception. While attending Wyandotte, I couldn't wait to leave. Now I realize how unhappy and full of anger I was about my home life and not school itself. In fact, I now consider my time at Wyandotte a wonderful time and where I met some wonderful people.
In wrapping this up, this may not be the correct forum, but I need to acknowledge the fact that I was not a nice person during this period of my life and I hurt a lot of people. I wish
