Richard's Story

After graduation from West High in 1961, I went on to Iowa State College (at that time) and obtained a BS in Farm Operations with emphasis on Ag Business. Got married the day after graduation from ISU and went to work for Monsanto in June of '65. Was called up for Viet Nam in April '66 and enlisted in the Navy. Went to OCS and got my commission. Spent three years in Uncle Sam's Navy on active duty and another 23 years in the reserves. Retired from USNR as an 05 Commander. Went back to work for Monsanto in Jan 1970 and moved to Virginia as field sales rep for ag products. Rai...Expand for more
sed two boys in Virginia. Left Monsanto in 1983 and went into Ag Radio Network broadcasting and advertising sales. Left that job in 1986 to go to work for Telmark, Inc which was the financial end of Agway of New York (a farmer coop). Retired from industry in 2003 when I began my military retirement and benefits. Went back to work for the Government at Bureau of Labor Statistics (div of the dept of Labor) in 2004. Retired from Gov't in Dec 2008 and hope that is the last retirement. Keep busy with Adult Literacy Tutoring and Meals on Wheels volunteering. Live in Midlothian, VA.
