Richard's Story
Graduation in 1970 was followed by a stay at West Virginia University. This was shortened by drawing one of the lower Lottory numbers for the draft.
I was accepted into the D. C. Air Guard later to transfer to the Colorado Air National Guard. After 23 years and duty in such locations as Turkey, Hawaii, Panama and finally Desert Storm...I retired as an E-9.
During the same time, my civilian life also moved forward. Because of the military move, I decided to stay in Colorado. My focus was toward Law Enforcement where I joined the Colorado State Patrol. Because of better benefits and not having to move about the state, I left the State Patrol and joined the Aurora Police Department. I enjoyed many assignement but none as much as riding a police motorcycle for 9 years and becoming one of a few that excelled in the area of Vehicle Collision Reconstruction. As one of only a handful at this time trained in this area, more doors were now opening.
While still in Colorado, I think one of my best memories was putting together the Poolesville High School Class Reunion for classes 1965 - 1975 in June of 1990. This was also the time that our band "The Overwhelming Majority" had the opportunity to play. After finishing the reunion, all the band members stayed at the school till around 2am, not wanting to leave because we knew it would be our last performance.
After retirement from both the military and police department, I moved to Jacksonville Florida and became an associate director of Vehicle Collision Investigation tra...Expand for more
ining for University of North Florida. What a change, moving from Colorado to Florida, lucky it was toward the end of summer.
The employment in Florida allowed me to travel again, this time more worldwide to train others in the reconstruction of all types of transportation incidents. One particular location was Australis where I was able to live there for an extended period of time.
Wanting to slow down the travel and continue with my education career, the State of Kentucky wished to have a similar program started for the law enforcement officers in Kentucky. My move to Kentucky was early in 2002.
I now train all law enforcement officers in Kentucky in the investigation and reconstruction of collisions. On a side track, I have also been declaired an expert in Emergency Vehicle Operation.
While here in Kentucky, I have opened my own Private Investigation Company which allows me to be consulted.
I have contined to operate my own Custom Golf Business, "Dick's Custom Golf" and relax at my home on 1.5 acres overlooking a 23 acre horse farm.
Life is slower in Kentucky, but that is a good thing. I have taken up playing Bass Guitar and currently play and sing with a Christian Rock Band here in Kentucky.
My parents are still living in Florida, however the 1956 Chevrolet that many remember is located here in Kentucky where most weekend during the season you can find it at a car show.
If ever in Kentucky or just passing through, please get in touch. I can always be reached through my email.
God Bless and take care.
