Richard's Story
After graduating UHS, I attended college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for Dental Prosthetics, joined the military after graduation and continued my education. I served six years in US Navy (Medical/Dental Corps) and sixteen years in US Army (Intelligence Analyst). I attended the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) in Monterey, California and met Lori, my wife, at the school. We were married in 1978 while in studies at the institute. Lori is from Elmira, NY. We are the parents of four children: Paul, Andrea, Rebecca, Christopher, and the grandparents of 13! (Keith, Nathaniel, Ian, Brianna, Reilly, Cierra, Barbara, Jocelyn, Jonah, Mackenzie, Cameron, Reid and Leila)
My military assignments included Berlin, Germany (when the Wall was still standing, and President Reagan's visit) and Uijongbu (Camp Red Cloud), Korea, HQ US Army, and the Pentagon. I retired as a Master Sergeant (Sr. Intelligence Analyst) in January 1994 and became an IT Program/Project Manager shortly thereafter.
I have degrees in: ...Expand for more
Dental Prosthetics, Occupational Education, and Computer Information Systems from three different colleges/universities. I am currently certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Security+ Professional, and as a Cloud and Virtualization Professional.
I have worked in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area for over twenty years and traveled overseas for the US Department of State. I have worked projects in Botswana - Africa, Riyadh - Saudi Arabia and Damascus - Syria. I've also held several government service (GS) positions including Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Martinsburg, WV. I have worked over the years for companies such as SAIC, CACI, IBM, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI), and All Native, Inc.
I presently work at Ft. Detrick in Frederick, Maryland and live near Martinsburg, WV, where I attend Hedgesville United Methodist Church and participate as a member of the technology committee.
