Richard's Story

Richard (“Rick”) T. Robol is the founder of a boutique private law practice, ROBOL LAW OFFICE, LLC. His practice focuses primarily on international law, maritime law, civil litigation and complex corporate decision-making. He is admitted to various bars, including the Supreme Court of the United States; Ohio State Bar; Virginia State Bar; U.S. Courts of Appeals, Fourth, Sixth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits; E.D. VA., W.D. VA, N.D.OH, S.D.OH, W.D. MI. He has been selected for such publications as Who’s Who; Who's Who in America; Who's Who in American Law; and has an AV Martindale-Hubbell rating. Some of his innovations in international and maritime law are described in the New York Times best-seller Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea. He would enjoy hearing from all Black Knights from his class or others (see Law Firm website). Rick devoted 20 years of service to the United States as a U.S. Army Reserve officer. His responsibilities included providing strategic and operational law planning for joint service operations of the U.S. Marines, Navy, Air Force and Army, as well as multinational operations. on awarded by U.S. Department of Defense (DMSM); two campaign medals; the humanitarian service medal; and 9 other medals and ribbons. He served three years as Associate Professor of Military Science at Capital University, teaching military leadership and history. Rick received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was a Member of the Board of Students Advisors; served as Managing Editor of the Harvard International Law Journal; and won the Addison Brown Prize. He was a Fulbright Scholar to Europe and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. At Virginia, he co-graduated first in his class (4.0 GPA), won the Class of 1953 Award for Scholastic Achievement and received the Stevenson Prize. Rick served as a judicial clerk for the Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court, E.D.Va. His pro bono service and memberships have included the Lions Club; the National Council for Prevention of Child Abuse; the National Conference of Christians & Jews; Parents United Against Child Abuse; the Philippe Cousteau Foundation; Veterans of Foreign Wars; the American Legion; the Maritime Law Association; the Delaware, OH Red Cross; the Columbus Bar Association; the USO; and coaching for The Ohio State University Jessup Moot Court Team.
