Rick's Story
After graduating from Santa Rita High School in Tucson I got a BM in Music Education at the UofAZ and then did some graduate studies in choral conducting.
I met a beautiful lady there by the name of Tamsin Elliott and after she dumped me three times I finally got her to marry me in 1980. After almost 30 years of marriage we are closer friends and lovers than ever and find our journey together in life to be more joyful, peaceful and fun than we could have imagined.
We have 6 children - our daughter Elliott (1982) who is a model in NYC, Ben (1984) is writing a book and lives in our home in IL, Callie (1986), Will (aspiring Hip Hop musician and student also living in our house in IL (1988), John (1995) and Maddie (1999). Callie is married to Josh Felix and gave birth to our first grandbaby this June! Her name is Sunshine.
Career wise, I taught elementary music for 8 years and loved working with the children. Unfortunately, the adults made it more of a challenge than I cared for so I left public school work and sold insurance and securities for three years and discovered two things. I love sales but I missed being in education.

broadcasting stations. I loved it and seemed to do well enough at to win my first national award from PBS for my efforts. In 1991, I became the Director of Corporate Support at KSPS in Spokane, WA where we lived for 6 years. After leading our team there to a few more PBS Development Awards I became their Director of National Program Development. In 1997 I moved on to become the General Manager of KSMQ-TV in Austin, MN for three years. I took a year away from the career when Tamsin's father and then my father became terminally ill. I went back into public broadcasting and education as the GM of WEIU-FM/TV and Director of the Radio/TV Center at Eastern Illinois University in 2001.
In order to have the opportunity to live internationally, I went back to teaching in 2007. I taught a couple of years at Northampton Academy in England before coming to the UAE.
We both teach music at the Ras Al Khaimah English Speaking School where John and Maddie are students. Tamsin teaches toddlers up through US Kindergarten age (UK Y1) and I teach middle school and secondary. I am haveing a fun time and very much enjoying it.
For Tamsin and me, our spiritual life remains at the core of who are and all we do and life is just great!
