Richard's Story
Richard's High School employment included being the bicycle messenger for Western Union in Nashua until the difficulties of delivering death notices from the military. Through the Boy Scouts I developed a passion for the outdoor activities of mountain climbing, white water canoeing and tubing, hunting and archery leading to involvement in an indoor archery range working as a bow technician and instructor for many years. Archery hunting trips led to holding licenses in 10 states. Skiing interests led to participation with our high school ski team after membership in the Snow Kats sponsored by the YWCA. College years led to New England Aeronautical Institute in Nashua with aspirations of becoming a commercial airline pilot which required vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes, I learned,later. The social activities there allowed for election as an officer in the clubs, holding a chair in the Psysh. Club, and becoming the Senior Class President. We were the second graduating class in '68 and we were instrumental in the transition to the current Daniel Webster Junior College. We also wrote a charter to form a fraternity where I developed the ability to organize parties.
