Richard’s broadcasting career began in Illinois, where he also worked as a trial lawyer. He did documentaries and was a TV anchor & reporter for WGBO, WAND & ABC, and America’s Most Wanted. After coming to Colorado Springs, Richard spent time as an anchor and reporter for KKTV in addition to doing work for several Denver television stations and National Networks like ABC & CBS before working in news and beginning his talk radio career at KVOR.
His work has been honored with several national and regional awards from Edward R. Murrow, The Associated Press and Colorado Broadcasters Associations.
Richard has a passion for history and the men and women who have made it. Over the course of his career Richard has interviewed approximately 280 World War Two airmen, soldiers, sailors, and holocaust survivors. He has produced several radio, television & film documentaries, based on these interviews including several for PBS, NPR, and documentaries featured in film festivals like Cannes and The Denver International Film Festival. A good example is “Girls Beneath The Bombs” which aired several times on PBS during their pledge drives. He has interviewed more than a dozen recipients of The Congressional Medal Of Honor from World War Two thru the Vietnam War.
Loves photography, writing music, art, skiing, camping, hiking, horseback riding, writing short stories. Enjoyed playing tennis, baseball, softball.
