Richard's Story
I've been pretty much out of sight for the last 23+ years. I moved to Tn. to finish my 30 yr. sentence with GMC at Saturn. I retired almost 6 yrs. ago and now enjoy getting paid for sitting on my ass and getting paid for it! No more alarm clock! I thank God daily that I don't have to go to work. It became a very intimidating and hostile place to work. I have been back to N.Y. several times but haven't run into anyone I knew except Carol Grove, Dave Betts and Jack Hill. Before I moved I had many jobs, many of them unsafe, including testing Napalm and Agent Orange at FMC in Middleport. I seem to have made poor choices in marriage. I always picked the wild ones and none of them worked out. I miss beef on weck so much it can make me drive back to enjoy them at my favorite place, Pony's (formerly Mr. Ed's) the best beef on weck I've ever had! I never thought I'd make it to 64 yrs. old. Now I'm hoping to make it til 2016 for hopefully a 50th year reunion. I wonder how many people I would recognize and how many pe...Expand for more
ople would recognize me. I have many fond memories of the high school days but when I was 16 years old my 23 year old brother died of cancer and I totally went over the edge. I was out of control for many years until I became a Christian. Totalled 7 cars by the age of 22 but have had none since. I don't really like living in Tn. but could never afford to move back to N.Y. Tn. is very racist and it's like living in a whole different country than the North. Growing up in farm counry affected me more than I realized at the time. There were no girls around and when I went to Middleport Jr. and Senior High School I didn't have a clue as to how to interact with them and I was overly shy. Such is life! I have no real regrets. You play with the hand that's dealt you. I have a nice home and a 100% restored '67 El Camino. I lack for nothing and am relatively happy, but still feel like a stranger in a strange land. I guess that's all for now. If you read this and have any questions or comments I'll be happy to reply.
