Richard's Story

Life Please bear with me, my memory is not what it should be, perhaps its a mild case of "oldtimers disease" or possibly the residual affects of a prescription medication, or maybe even my ill spent youth. In any case, I must apologize for staring and hopefully your name is on the tip of my tongue. My Spouse(Brenda Stewart, Class of 1965) We met at one of Jack Elder's famous Parties(back home in the real world), while I was in the Army. Although she was only a year behind me in High School, we had never met. She also knew me from when I worked at Zestos, the Varsity and Mann's Drug Store and thought I was stuck-up. Shy might have been a better description. I know I must have made a really excellent impression; just as she and her friend came into the back yard I fell out of the lounge chair and was attacked by a pack of killer rose bushes !! First let me say, I was a typical guy, you pretty much have to spell things out for us. No one taught me that to "hold someone too close" was being obsessive or "holding someone loosely" was uncareing. Critical Mistakes on more than one occassion. This is my second marriage and on top of being a typical guy, I was pretty much a spoiled brat (only child) and don't really have any right to discuss my first marriage, suffice it to say I "blew it". If it was possible for one person (me) to get everything wrong I did. Guess the Army made me grow up; at least emotionally !! My Pets Raised (bred) German Sheperds for a while until it got too hard to part with the Pups. Our Dob...Expand for more
ermans(Angel and Kahn) raised our son, very good nannies. Angel would make our son turn the volume down on his stero and go to bed before it got too late. She would also come and get us if he started "walking in his sleep". Our Big German Shepherd(Caesar) (110lbs) was the family protector whether we liked it or not. On more than one occassion he kept us from going in harms way. They will be remembered. My Kids (Ty - Graduated Cum Laude from Berkley College of Music - 1990) Met my soon to be son when he was 5 years old(I was in the Army and in much better condition, wearing a Superman T-Shirt) he seemed convinced I was Superman. I was hooked from there on. Except thru his eyes, I never could "leap tall buildings in a single bound" but I guess when you get right down to it, "thru their eyes is what really counts". Now he has his own little ones to take care of and I bleieve he's going to get it right. My Job (Sales & Marketing) Working in the Construction industry, I'm out doors a lot, making contact with a diverse group of people. I like to think I'm customer oriented. Guess I'm a throw back, since I still want to be able to make a difference for my customer, but companies have grown sooo large its becoming much more difficult for one person on the local level to make a difference - but it hasn't stopped me from trying - guess I'll always be swimming upstream or jousting with windmills. I'll bet Miss Walton is in hysterics after reading this - B+/C- disjointed thoughts and you still can't spell, young man !!!
