Richard's Story
After La Sierra, I attended ARJC. Karen Missall and I were married. We have a daughter, Wendy Sue Smith who was born in 1964.
We transferred to the University of California, Davis in 1966. Unfortunately, we divorced in 1969.
I went on to receive my BA in Bacteriology in 1969,
a Master's in Microbiology in 1971 and graduated from the school of veterinary medicine in 1976.
After practicing for 4 years as an emergency veterinarian...the hours were insane, I bought my own veterinary hospital on the coast in Pacifica, Californi...Expand for more
a. After 20 years of regular daytime practice, I wanted to return to my first love...emergency medicine and surgery. So we moved to Shingle Springs (what a contrast from the Bay Area). Now I practice 3 X 14-hour overnight shifts which leaves plenty of free time to roam the Sierras with my wife, Kristin and our dog, Daisy. Our 5 cats stay at home sulking.
In my spare time I build custom computers, garden and build custom furniture.
I am just thankful that I have made it this long....many of us didn't. God rest their souls.
