Richard's Story
To those of you interested, this is a synopsis of my life from DHS graduation in 1966 until 8/18/09.
Lets start with where I am and who I am now.
I live in Manassas, Virginia and I work for the County of Fairfax as a Senior Real Estate Appraiser. That is a job title and has NOTHING to do with age. Just thought I should clear that up. I know what you were thinking. So, to continue. I married a woman who graduated from Stonewall Jackson HS. There were no children. We were married for 25 years and divorced in 2000. I should have known it wouldn¿t work out. Our schools never did get along. I have remained single. I have a job I love, I am surrounded by good friends and family and though I am alone, I am never lonely.
So, how did I get here?
After graduation from DHS I trekked off to Morgantown for 4 of the longest years of my life. I graduated from WVU in 1970 with a degree in Business and was off to seek my fortune. Yeah, right. sing industry was launched. Sort of. Tough business, building houses. But I stayed with the industry, various phases of it, for several years. In 1996 I had an opportunity to move to Cincinnati and work for a large contractor there. I held the position of sales manager and did my job a little too well. The company prospered, a bigger fish bought it, the owner got rich and I was out on the street. No good deed goes unpunished. It was at this point I discovered appraising houses. Turns out I¿m pretty good at it and a new career was born. In August, 2001 my sister called me. She worked for the Fairfax County, Va. School system and had heard of an opening in the County Tax Office. The rest, as they say, is history and I am now happier than I have ever been.
I am still a sports enthusiast. I still love football but have discovered other outlets like hiking, sailing, canoeing and believe it or not, dancing. I am determined to keep my good health and work out 5 or more times a week. I also love to cook and have found that does not have to conflict with a healthy diet.
So, That is how I turned out.
