fated friendship with disgraced casino heir Lonnie âTedâ Binion. After Binion died in 1998 of a drug overdose, Rick was arrested and charged with murder. Convicted in 2000 and sentenced to decades behind bars, he spent the next ten years in prison teaching himself the U.S. legal system. So he could overthrow the wrongful conviction and consequence one misplaced loyalty cost him and his family. The Nevada Supreme Court overturned his murder conviction in 2003 and Rick was acquitted on retrial, but he remained in prison on the other "convenient" charges. He was released in 2010. Today, Rick has returned to his hometown of Missoula, where he has resurrected his entrepreneur talents and is writing a book that will tell the true story of his unjust arrest and conviction.".
