Richard's Story
Hello Emery High Classmates,
After high school (Emery High 1958-1961) I joined the Army and after training was sent to West Berlin, Germany, just as the Berlin Wall was being built. Those were historic times and very memorable, especially President Kennedy's visit to the city in 1963 when he did his "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech. I spent two years in Berlin and developed a real love for the city. Lately I try to visit Berlin about twice a year. After getting out of the Army,
I graduated from Cal State Hayward and became a teacher for 7 years (Ms...Expand for more
. Gatenby would have been proud) and during that time went to law school at night and became an attorney, practicing law in the Bay Area for more than 34 years.
For a couple of years I was a judge pro tem in the Alameda County Superior Court, mainly in Hayward, Pleasanton, and Fremont.
These days I still handle a few legal cases but what I really enjoy is being a grandpa to my son Kevin's little daughter, Sydney.
