Rick's Story

I think it would be best to give you history by timeline: 1978: Moved in with my sister in Hayward, enrolled in Foothills CC in Los Altos. College was not my thing back then, so whenever you see the word ¿college¿ it is more of a reference point than an educational means. Not that I didn¿t learn anything, just no much. Worked part time for a janitorial service. 1979 (spring): Enrolled in Chabot Community College. 1979 (fall): Moved in with my other sister in Simi Valley (this sister thing was an agreement between my sisters and my mom, kind of like a pre-arranged marriage). Enrolled at Moorpark Community College. Worked part time for an off road race shop that made custom suspensions. 1980 (summer): Met a girls, fell in love with a girl from Lodi going to Chico State. (I was in Quincy during the summer working at Perkos). Enrolled at FRC (college) in the fall. 1981 (Winter): Moved to Chico (still in love). Enrolled in Chico State. Worked part time as cook/assistant manager at Happy Steak. 1982 (Summer): Got married. Had 2 girls (1982, 1984) Offered a job with my brother-in-laws computer repair company, back to Simi, went to Control Data Institute in Woodland Hills, got my cert, went to work repairing large scale pen/photo plotters that were controlled by 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation computers. 1984 (Fall): Offered position in Northwest, agreed in a heartbeat (its kind of like Quincy but cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter (but not much), and you have the big city perks or the country perks less than an hours drive away. Lived in Kirkland until 1985, moved to Redmond shortly after...Expand for more
. 1989 (Fall): Changed jobs to Microserv, Inc. doing PC/Peripheral maintenance work. Primary client was The Boeing Co. Moved into management shortly thereafter. Managed Tech Support and the Call Center and then moved onto Quality. Implemented our ISO 9001 program then migrated to ISO 9000:2000. Worked there for 14 years. Company was purchased by East Coast company. All management let go. 1992: Got divorced. Fell in love again (different women). Moved in with each other. 1998: Had a son. 2000: Got married. 2001: Wife starts SisAdmin (Sisters Administration Services) 2002: Had another daughter. 2003: Let go from job (see 1989 above). 2004: Go to work for SisAdmin doing Web work, quotes for clients and some accounting, which is pretty much what I do today, but I do about 95% of the accounting and am trying to move away for the web work. I only do HTML and a little Java Script plagiarizing and don¿t care at this time to learn php, asp or .net. We have some younger guys around to do that. To summarize the family, there are myself, my wife Mary, daughters Amanda (27), Rebecca (24), Sarah (6) and Adam (10). We (with Adam and Sarah) live in Bothell while Mandy and Becky both live and work in Seattle and are single. At present we have 1 dog, 2 bunnies, 1 Greek tortoise, 4 fish, 3 frogs and assorted captured insects that are all taken care of. My wife is on the North End Otters Masters swim team, I love cigars and golf, playing almost weekly. My son loves (perhaps obsessed with) fishing, which I moved away from when I started golfing, but we do find time to dip our line once or month or so.
