Rick's Story
Life
After H.S., I joined the navy as a electrician. After 2 years in th navy nucler power training program, I received an ROTC scholarship. I attended Illinois Institue of Technology from 1998-2002 and earned a B.S. in electrical engineering. I was commissioned as an Ensign in 2002 and again went through the officer Nuclear pipeline on my way to the wonderful submarine community. uth (SSN 707) where I completed a wetern pacific deployment. I then received orders to the USS Helena after the good ship Portsmouth was slated for decomissioning. On the Helena, I completed another 6 month WESTPAC. I was then transferred to my current duty station in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. As far a personal life, I was married in April, 2004 to my lovely wife Sheryl and we are having our first child in September of this year.
