Rick's Story
Life
You probably remember me as Rich Gallas, but I started calling myself Rick shortly after graduation from H.S. Following H.S. graduation I went to the University of Evansville. I played football my freshman year, but with a draft number of 14 and no college deferments I had to enlist in the Army. So I enlisted in the Army Reserve. I got married in 1973 to the love of my life, Paula Overweg. We will celebrate our 48th anniversary this year and have two grown children (boy and girl). I ended up getting my BS degree in business administration/marketing and worked at BASF, S.C. Johnson, Valspar Inc. and Crescent Cardboard over a 20+ year Corporate career. I ...Expand for more
started my own consulting company, Angel Street Enterprises, Inc. in 1996. In 1993 I got involved in the fire service which progressed to full-time status. I had a 25-year career in the fire service with my last 14 years serving as full time Fire Chief of the Richmond Township Fire Protection District. Paula and I have four grandkids. Barrett and Brooke are from my daughter Kelli and Emmy and Elissa are from son Ryan and his wife Sherrie. Life is good, with only a few dips along the way. I retired from Richmond Fire on October 25, 2018, and moved to New Port Richey, Florida for the endless summer retirement. I hope to hear from and visit with old H.S. friends.
