Rick's Story

I spent the first 23 years of my life in Temple City (Longden and Goldenwest) and have five brothers and sisters. We all attended Longden Ave School, Oak Ave School and Temple City High School. After graduation I served in the U.S.Navy Submarine Service with best friend and classmate Jim Morton (Class of 1960, deceased) I married Wendy (Rosemead Class of 1962) in 1962. In 1965 we moved to Arcadia and have since lived in Lake Arrowhead, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and on Catalina Island. Over the years I attended Long Beach City College, various Professional Schools and the University of Hard Knocks (Fire Science, Public Administration, Business and Construction). We have two sons, Son Tim is a Fedex Pilot and Son ...Expand for more
Jim is a Marine Corps Colonel and Pilot. We also have five grandchildren. I Retired from the Los Angeles County Fire Department in 2002, after 38 years. I'm a General Contractor and was a Building Partner with Classmate Jim Morton. Wendy and I have lived on Catalina Island for the past 30 years, where we have built a new home. I have been active with the Lions Club and have served on various Boards within the community. I enjoy family, friends, motorcycles, horses, fishing, boating, building, helping others, being active and trying to stay healthy. Life has been good to Wendy and I, hopefully the trend will continue for some time. Best wishes, good health and happiness to all my classmates. Rick Harp, Class of 1960.
