Rick's Story
For anyone from high school or college who is checking this, let me catch you up with what's been happening in my life in the last ... 30+ years. Workwise, I ended up specializing in sound equipment manufacturing.
After college, I stuck around Denver for about 14 years. Played in some variety bands. Worked at a company that made audio mixers and then one that repaired electronic musical equipment. I started a couple of companies: one was my own company that repaired musical equipment and another that manufactured MIDI accessories (for synthesizers, etc).
Got married and lived in Indian Hills for 4 years.
We moved to NJ where I was Engineering Director for Numark, a company that makes DJ mixers and equipment. Then moved to the San Francisco area where I was US Sales Manager for TOA Electronics, a company that sold studio monitors. I oversaw their engineered sound division of products for large audio projects.
In 1991, we moved to the LA area and have been working for the past 32 years at JBL Professional in Northridge. I started as US Product Manager for all markets and then after some reorganizations, focused on various markets including portable PA, cinema, and recording studio monitors. About 25 years ago I settled in on loudspeakers for installed systems and am currently Sr. Director for Commercial/Installed Loudsp...Expand for more
eakers. It's like what some companies call a Business Unit Director, overseeing all aspects of that market. Some of the product lines I've developed for the installation market are at the JBL Pro website (click on Installed Sound in the center of the page). Some of the more well-known sound systems using our equipment are the JBL Pro website (click on Installations in the list on the left).
We have 2 kids. Our oldest daughter is 38. She graduated from USC and ended up in Edinburgh, Scotland.. Our son is 37 and works on supersonic X project at NASA..
Spiritually, I'm involved in a Unitarian Universalist congregation, which is a liberal spiritual (not terribly religious in a theistic way) faith. I'm a Humanist UU. I helped found the congregation in Santa Clarita. [It appears that Classmates doesn't allow posting of websites, but if you search for "UU of SCV", the website will show up.] It's a fulfilling practice and I perform a variety of functions, including the newsletter, work on outreach, doing social justice and charity work, and am on the Board of Trustees. I occasionally fill in for the minister.
We live in a Santa Clarita, CA (where Six Flags Magic Mountain is).
For anyone who I knew at Thomas Jefferson or at University of Colorado, I'd love to hear from you and find out what's happening in your life.
