Rick's Story
June 10, 2018. As I approach # 70 I look back at my life and say, soon I'm going to have to figure out what I'm going to do when I grow up. I spent a couple of hours looking back through the old year books, and wondered where these people are now, and what they look like. You only have to look at your own grad picture at the same time as you look in the mirror to realize that gravity and too many years of hard living have taken their toll.
My mum and dad are dead now of course, so I don't get back to N.B. much anymore. My brother Jim is still there and he is a happily retired teacher. He's married now to Barb (White) and has a bunch of grandchildren (over 4, but I don't count well).
I finished high school (I've never seen assembled teachers clap like that before) and went off to U.N.B. Didn't last long there, met my first wife...Expand for more
and moved to Thunder Bay Ontario where I still am. We went our own ways shortly after that and in '75 I met my current wife Mona. She had 2 children and we are now blessed with our first grandchild.
I worked in the banking industry for 11 years after U.N.B., then became a private investigator. I opened my own practice and have been at it for the past 38 years. I guess I have been reasonably successful. I don't plan to retire too soon, I enjoy what I do, I've got some good help, and what would I do at home anyway.
My health has had it's challenges. Had a heart attack in '95 and by-pass in '03. I think everyone should get bypass, you feel great after, and you get to start over with a new warranty.
I still ski, certainly not as much or as well. We winter in Florida, but summer here. Look forward to hearing from any of you.....Rick
