Rick's Story
Life
I'm going to try and tell you more about me and let you know whats been going on since June 7th, 1967
I'm a divorced dad of two wonderful girls who are both college graduates. I'm also a member of Willow Creek Community Church, in South Barrington, Ill.
That doesn't mean that I'm a religious freak, just a strong belief in God and the "Golden Rule"....................."Love your Neighbor as yourself".
My Saturdays are usually spent Doing some yardwork and then playing Volleyball and maybe some bike riding. Then if I have plans for the evening, then it's doing that, maybe a Movie or an evening at the Symphony or Dinner and dancing or sitting on my couch being a potato for the evening.
I also just bought a Motorcycle, a Harley Heritage Softtail I bought it last August, now I 'm learning to ride it. I also own a 1966 Chevy II Nova SS,
327 ci automatic yellow w/ black interior. (which life crisis would this be) No just very adventerous.
I'm somewhat involved at Willow, in the Sports Ministry and I volunteer in Extension Ministries, which is Innercity and International. So far I've only voluntered to fix Bicycles for the international side. They send them to Third World Countries for transportation.
My first marriage was to a girl from Elk Grove HS (Pat Ecklund class of 1970) that ended in 1976 just before my brother Ken (conant class of 1970) was killed in a car accident. Exactlly ONE YEAR later I got married again(OOPPS) to Kathy Leitgeb (schaumburg class of 1973) That ended in 1986 and I've been divorced for 20 years now. I do have two of the most wonderful daughters though of whom I am very proud.
Rikki graduated in 2003 with a degree in Urban Ministries and a minor in Psychology. She plans on goingback to school for her Masters in Social Psychology or get a Degree in Art Therapy in a couple of years. She was doing an internship in Los Angeles with a non-profit called "InnerChange". She's basically a neighborhood advo...Expand for more
cate for community relations and an afordible housing expert. She just moved back at the begining of January 06. She is living in Chicago with her husband (june 08) Scott and working for the "Chicago 2016" Olympic organizing group.
Dani is a very Artistic girl who graduated january 06 with a Degree in Graphic Arts and a minor in Campus Ministries at Olivet-Nazarene University. She has a real talent for Drawing, Painting and Photography. I'm hoping that she would want to be an Art Teacher, I think she would do very well. She can definitely transfer her knowledge about things to others. She's also my gardener! Every Fathers Day she plant something new in the small garden next to my house. It's become quite the little garden. When I move, I'm taking her Garden with me. Right now she's living in Dayton Ohio With her husband Brian .
I'm a sports freak watching or going to see, Blackhawks, White Sox, Bears and Bulls. I also love College Basketball especially when tournament time comes around in March. (Go UnderDog!!!). Sorry NO CUBS. I like being around Downtown Chicago, going to the Symphony, going to the Theater or to the Art Institute.
In June of 2003 I opened an Allstate office in Island Lake, Il. It's on the main road in town but, I've moved the office to a strip center next to a Culver's Frozen Custard. (i feel myself getting bigger just thinking about it)
Music is still a big part of my life , I love all kinds! Classical, some Country (old twangy stuff like Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris) and Rock & Roll Oldies and Alternative Rock and Christian Alternative and even some Hip Hop. I've even entertained thoughts of playing my drums again but, every time Tom Mikulka (conant class of 1969) calls me I usually tell him I'm still thinking about it.
The next chapter of my life is waiting to be written, so I wait paitiently while its being formulated. I was great seeing everyone at the 40th reunion, I hope we don't wait so long.
