Rick's Story

Every once in awhile I am reminded that a lot of you think I moved to Australia after high school, but that never happened as the Navy changed its mind about Dad's duty station. I went to City and San Diego State--pretty boring college life--I worked, went to class, drank beer on weekends. I never attended a college reunion. I moved back to DC to start my career in business. I left DC and lived for a short time in LA before moving back to Annapolis Maryland for a career change. I've been living in Annapolis since 1979--the Chesapeake Bay is a beautiful place-- enjoying every minute of it. Kris and I have been married for 38 years and are very happy, looking forward to every day. I worked in Corporate America for most of my working life, but 5 years ago started my own business here in the Washington DC area. It started as a part time consulting business, but I now have 5 associates and am back to a full time job. Professionally it is satisfying work so I'll probably keep at it for awhile--no retirement soon. However, a more flexible schedule gives me time for go...Expand for more
lf, travel, etc. It's interesting thinking about Coronado and the "island" life. I was only there for three years, but they were three very important years in terms of growing up, making friends, etc. Ironically, 40+ years later our vacation home is on an island just off the coast of Florida, near Ft Myers and the issues, people, etc are very similar to Coronado. For instance, 5 years ago, there was a controversy over replacing their bridge/causeway with a more modern structure and raising the toll--not unlike the controversy in the '60's over replacing the ferries with the bridge in Coronado. Don't think moving back to Southern California is ever in the cards, but I will be back for our 50th and hope to see you all then. One of the tips this web page gives you to make your story more interesting is to say who you would like to see again from your class. There are many people I hope to see at our next reunion, but if I had to say one, I would say Raul Perez, our student body president. He was so different from me in every way that I found him very interesting.
