Rick's Story

Life Enlisted and spent 4 years in the Navy after graduation. Started driving a truck when I got out of the Navy. Drove until 1982 when I was diagnosed with diabetes. Went to school and learned Industrial Electronics. Went to work at Litton Engineered Systems in Florence. I was introduced to my wife, a United Methodist minister by my sister. We got married Nov. 1984. Still together after all these years. We've moved several times since we got married, so I've had several different jobs. Got a degree in computer programming from Cincinnati Technical College after a work related injury in 1989. in the U.S. Navy and will become a hospital corpsman. My Job I'm now working as an accountant for a Louisville based company. I still miss trucking. I'd love to be out there trucking, but I don't want to be away from home like that anymore. I also played in a Bluegrass band for about 6 years. I became a mandolin player when the original mandolin player wouldn't show up to practice. We've done alright. Even got to play the Wool Festival in my home town of Falmouth. The band fell apart after the founder and bass played had a sudden heart attack and passed away in 2008. I'm now playing in another band called Kentuckiana Grass, playing mandolin, guitar and some upright bass. Check us out, become a fan of Kentuckiana Grass on Facebook!
