Rick's Story
Life
I joined the Navy in 1981. I stayed in the Navy until 1991. I did see the world and was involved in 1 war in the Desert. Then I got out and got married. No kids. I went back to school got my GED. Then I got a BS in Aviation Maitenance from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Fl. I obtained that while I was in the Navy. Then I went to work for Apple Computer. I worked there for about 4 years. I was a Quality Assurance Engineer. I obtained my Masters while I worked for Apple. Thank God they paid for it.
When I got out of the Navy I joined the Air Force Reserve and was stationed here in California for the last 11 years as a reservist. I retired from the reserves right before this war.
After Apple I went to work for Goodrich Aerospace as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
Even though I dropped out of high school I obtained a BS degree in Aviation Maintenance, a BS degree from Southern Illinois University in Industrial Technology from the Engineering department and a Masters degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco in Project Managment. I currently work on hardware for the U.S....Expand for more
Navy, U.S. Air Force, and NASA.
Currently I am working on my FAA requirements to obtain my mechanics certificate. I have worked on military planes for over 20 years I might as well get the license that goes with it. Then I can work on commercial and private planes.
I would also like to add that I teach part time for Southern Illinois University at Travis AFB here in California. They have a satellite campus out here. I teach Industrial Technology courses to mainly Air Force GIs, but there are a few civilians in the curriculum as well.
Currently I am getting ready to work in Las Vegas as a systems engineer for unmanned aircraft. The ones used in Iraq. This should be a pretty interesting job and I hpope to learn some new things along the way. Hopefully, one day when I retire I would like to come back and settle in the Princeton area and possibly teach shop or math for one of the local schools. As I read in the paper Ohio will probably be closing the high school so hopefully LaMoille or Princeton High will hire me. That would be my life time enjoyable job.
Hope to here from some of you soon. Take care!
