Life
I'm the assistant editor of Cincinnati's alternative newsweekly, CityBeat, where I manage all arts and entertainment coverage and write about theater. (We have an easy-to-find Web site, too.) I moved to this job in 1998 after 22 years in public relations, including serving as vice president of Cincinnati's largest PR firm for 7 years. v. I've worked in college public relations (Hiram College,Walsh College), in public radio (put a station on the air in 1985) and healthcare communications. In 1998 Joan Kaup and I were married; she's vice president of Cincinnati's Convention & Visitors Bureau. My son, Geoff, born in 1971, works as a scenic carpenter for Chicago's Goodman Theatre; he's getting married in September 2001. My parents still live at Bass Lake in the home where I grew up.
