Rita's Story
Life
Got married after high school, had three great kids, got divorced. Moved to Arizona in 1982. Kids are grown and I am remarried. I work at a high tech company as a Systems Analyst I became a first time grandma on September 20th, 2005 at 1:40PM, to Ari Brielle Cushway. She weighed in at 8lbs. 9ozs. and she is 21" long. She's a beautiful babe and I'm not just saying that because I'm her grandma!
Workplace
I currently work for a hi-tech company as a System Analyst. It's interesting.
I always wanted to be an artist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a ludicrous idea. As it turns out, they were possibly right, but then, we'll never know since that is not what I do for a living.
My favorite way to relax is to listen to music or watch a good movie. I still enjoy going to see live music whenever I can.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have patience, music, and friends around to be able to deal with the day-to-day trials and tribulations of my job.
There are a lot of musicians, artists, and people who inspire me. My kids have always been inspiration for me too!
I have lived in Arizona most of my adult life. I moved here in 1982. I moved here because I was divorced, the last two winters I lived in Chicago, it was brutally cold, and I was tired of dragging my kids out into the cold so I could go to work. Sometimes I think it's drab because it's the desert, it's way too hot in the summer (which is long), but we do have some awesome storms during the ...Expand for more
monsoon, which includes a lot of lightening, which provides the best light show in town! I took a short break from living here to move to Massachusetts. I loved living there, but it was not a good time to be there. There is a lot of history there, it's beautiful, and there are some areas that are very inspiring. I would move to Salem in a heartbeat, if I could!
The teachers I would most love to see are Miss Leable and Mr. Dominiak. They were my two favorite teachers, I liked their style, and they made learning fun.
My oldest friend is Berd (Roberta) Anthony. I'm not sure why we clicked, but we did. Our relationahip is interesting. Berd and I can not be in touch for a long time, but the next time we do talk, it's like we just spoke to each othe yesterday. We've seen each other through some really hard times over the years.
Something I think that would surprise people about me, is that I have some published poems. I still enjoy writing.
My first "real" job was at Peterson Electro-Musical Products. I had no clue what they made when I first started working there. I started out making $2.50 an hour! Woo hoo! I learned a lot there. One of my favorite parts of that job was getting to go the NAMM (National Association of Music Makers) Expo every year. We never who we were going to see there. We stalked Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick one year. I actually got to meet Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake, & Palmer. Not at a NAMM Expo, but at a concert. He was truly a delight to speak to!
