Rita's Story
First of all.... I went to Monarch between '67-'71 --the golden years!
I taught English for way too many years. Was teaching for the TDSB--Jarvis Collegiate. (was there for 25 years, I think- became an institution around there or, perhaps, I needed to be institutionalized is what they mean!!) Retired in 2011 after 36 years of teaching. I have also been studying Spanish for six + years and plan to become fluent if it kills me. Since I've discovered how plastic the brain really is, I've decided to push myself a bit more these days. Wish I'd done that in high school. So...I will become fluent in Spanish!
Separated from my childhood sweetie- sad- we got married in 1975- still friends. We have 2 daughters - the oldest is 32 and the youngest 29. Scary! The oldest, Maruta, did work with autistic children for a couple of years and now has no idea what she wants to do and plans on going back to school, yet again. Engaged to an artist in Parkdale. ungest, Renata, works in internal communications for Indigo and the love of her life, Gustaf, she met in Sweden and just recently got engaged to.
Until our separation, we lived in Parkdale, in a lovely Victorian but now I have bought myself a super condo a bit west of there, right on the lake. Love it totally. Have a very close family and love them all to bits. Also, am very fortunate to have the best friends anyone can possibly have .
I have done some travelling since retirement and even taught a Gr. 12 English course to Ontario students in Italy and Malta in July of 2012. Mexico and South Carolina are some other favourite hot spots for me.
Although retired, I was fortunate enough to get on the supply teaching list and do all my supply work at my old school- Jarvis. It's a lot of fun because I get to be with the students and have no responsibilities- perfect combo!
That's about it - would love to re-connect with some of my peer group.
Chao.
