Hi Guys,
Where has the time gone? I have had a great time since graduating. I was married for 18 years to Allen Wealand of Lufkin. We had two children, Mandi, living in Lufkin, and Travis, living in Knoxville, TN.. I have four grandchildren at this time, and we are expecting another grandchild in Feb. 2022, as well as our first great-grandchild in Feb. 2022 (can you believe that!). I divorced in 1992 and was single for 8 years. Met the man of my dreams in 1999 and we married in 2000. The kicker is he is from Michigan, so I moved here to be with him. We now live near Lansing, MI and he is still the one that puts stars in my eyes. I worked in a banking, mostly mortgage lending, for all of my career, but retired in 2017. we love retirement! The weather is extremely cold here in the winter and I have seen more snow than I ever thought about. The summers are wonderful, though, with the average high in the 70's or low 80's all summer long. though for the past few years it has been more frequently.. My dad died in January 2005 after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. It was devastating, but we (my family and I) are managing without him. Although the footprints he made will, of course, never be filled, we can remember the wonderful man he was without so much pain now. We also lost my mom unexpectedly in August 2017, such a tragic loss. Brenda Kay, my oldest sister, was diagnosed with lung cancer in Oct. 2015 (she never smoked a day in her life) and though she battled mightily, she lost her battle in March 2019. This one just about put us under, but with God's strength we have learned to look back on our loses and remember the joyous times. I know we have all experienced loss, but these have been so very difficult.
I see others from the Class of '74 from time to time and Libby Allen and I are still the best of friends. She has visited me here in Michigan several times. Sure would be great to hear from others in our class.
