Ritz's Story
Life
Since leaving the Bronx in 1987 I've traveled the country to find a better place to be. I now live in Kansas City, MO and enjoy living in my own home(I never would have dreamed of living in a house while still in New York)
I have a life partner and we share a large house in front of a nice park. We have two mini-schnauzers named Maria and Ojani and I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the slower pace here. I teach E.S.L in Kansas City, Kansas and I must say that for someone who didnt really like school, this is my calling. I do visit NYC at least once every year and sometimes as a tour guide for my KC friends. I don't mind, I am proud to have been born and raised as a Puerto Rican in the Bronx.
I've also become quite the chef in Puerto Rican Cuisine since there arent to many of us out here. I take pride in educating my fellow Kansas Citians about the Puerto Rican culture. They...Expand for more
love it. KC is what I call " a big, small town " lots to do. You should visit some time. PEACE.
School
I wasnt the greatest student at Stevenson (I preferred playing handball) but I still managed to make lots of friends. The crowd I hung out with was somewhat jockey and we made up the womens Basketball and Softball teams the whole time I was there. I had to many crushes to mention and the teacher that inspired me the most was Ms. Monroe, my English teacher.
One spring me and the rest of the Softball team skipped school to go to Orchard Beach. It wasnt the season for the buses to go there so we had to walk from Pelham Bay Park. We didnt time it right to get back for practice so we were all late. The coach was so furious at us that she suspended us from the team (remember,we were the entire team). I think we missed one game and that one game cost us our record of winning every game that year.
