ROB's Story

Needless to say there has been allot of water pass under the bridge since I left Severna Park for Seattle 40 years ago. It really is a long story but for now suffice it to say after some life-changing events over the last year or so I gathered up what would fit in my car and left Seattle for DC. DC really didn't turn out the way I expected but let's just say the night truly is darkest before the dawn and let me tell you about the dawn... updated now from my first posting on Facebook back in January.
I have never posted anything on my Facebook Wall so this entry that follows is the first for me ever there and now here. There is so much I could say but for now I just want all of my friends to know that on a beautiful Fall day in the Virginia countryside at Breaux Vinyards on November 28th I asked Jan Conner to marry me and she said, "Yes."

Ours is a long story that started out 43 years ago as a friendship when I was the new kid on the block in the 8th grade in Severna Park, MD. Our friendship continued, although we never dated, it was still very special, culminating in Jan convincing me to take a very small part in the Senior Class Play Cinderella, which I never would have done on my own (picture on the right) but which really was a blast!
Our friendship then went into the crock pot for roughly 40 years but the lid came off this summer at a 3-Class (69, 70, & 71) High School Reunion late in September. About three weeks later we started seeing each other and while it may seem sudden to many of you, for us it seemed in many ways 43 years in the making. On Saturday evening April 23rd we are planning to have a very small semi-private ceremony at Kent Manor just on the other side of the Bay Bridge followed by a reception there for about 75 people.
While life in America certainly has its challenges today... especially in private industry... even so I am a very happy man today... and so blessed to have Jan in my life.
