Research and Development. Who would have thought...
I must say that I have been very fortunate. After High School, I joined the Navy and saw the World. OK, I saw the Mediterranean 3 times; none the less, Europe was quite the experience!
After finishing my "tour of duty", I worked at the Norfolk shipyards for a year. When I was laid off in 1988, I decided to sell everything I owned and bought a motorcycle. I then rode across the Country to California. It was in California where I landed my first job in the medical field. I went to school to be an X-Ray Technician. that I was a military man. He felt that my attention to detail skills would come in handy in his clinical research department. That is where my career in research started.
I have progressively expanded my career in research. Went into management and then finally in 2008, I went to work for myself as an independent consultant.
Military
I joined the Navy shortly after graduating from High School. Joining the Navy was the best decision I ever made. I may not have realized that at the time but looking back, what a difference that made!
I would recommend the military to anyone who really doesn't have a specific career path or to those who do but would like to gain "life experience" before entering the work force.
