Rob's Story
You might remember me from the TV club NVTV, pushing monitors around campus, videotaping basketball and football games, and running spotlight on stage productions like "Oliver!". I was involved in a few other things around campus ( with a little help from some friends!) that you wouldn't have thought of my name.. ( just how DID those yearbooks end up going from the concession stand in the gym to the storage closet??) But I was so quiet and shy, chances are you never noticed me. Which is probably a good thing! Anyway...
After Northview, I went to college and majored in Telecommunications and minored in Journalism. Since I hated to write under deadlines (very painful to look at a blank sheet of paper..) and never learned how to type on a typewriter (remember that technology?) I stayed with my first love, TV. Worked at JPL on missions to Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and beyond. Experienced a lot of history being made and worked with lots of...Expand for more
interesting people.
Moved on to "Hollywood" working in editing houses and doing sports remote TV broadcasts. Finally ended up at Metromedia which turned into Fox Broadcasting. We designed and built Fox's first network and satellite control rooms. And I worked on some shows. After spending years climbing behind equipment racks, under floors, above ceilings and along stage lighting grids, I finally settled into being a satellite transmission engineer which I did until I retired.
I've been lucky enough to have done some traveling to Europe and Asia and around the U.S. but I seem to do the most relaxing in Hawaii. Can't afford that too often however...
Feel free to stop by and say "Hi!". It's interesting though... I went to a Northview Class Reunion once. There I saw people who I went to Cypress and Eva D. and Northview with.. They were people I KNEW and grew up with yet they were strangers. A very odd feeling. Ah, the march of time!
