Life This one, I think, is going to throw anyone who knew me off a little. In fact, I am sure some people are going to fall out of their chairs when they find out what career I have finally chosen. Alright, I have been married for fourteen years and have a 11 year old daughter. After my mom lost her battle with lung cancer, I finally graduated high school (4 and 1/2 years) and moved back to California, where I was born and have many relatives. I was on my own and continued as a mechanic for about a decade. Although I knew from the start that I didn't want to do that forever, it was a good living for a 19 year old on my own. Eventually, I went into boating, construction and aerospace. In each of these careers I wound up training or managing, but never really saw myself retiring from them. Eventually, I decided that I needed a degree if I wanted to have more choices for careers, but I didn't know what, yet. Finally, I decided that a career in education would suit me and I could see me retiring from such a career. After becoming the first in my family to get a college degree, I went on for my teaching credential. From there I wound up teaching Social Studies and English in middle school. I did that for a few years and have since earned my masters degree from Pepperdine University and have become a principal at an elementary school in Westminster, CA. Are you off the floor yet? I used to struggle sometimes lecturing 12-14 year olds and disciplining them for things I have said or done in the past. In a way, it even amuses me to be on my side of the desk.
