Rob's Story
At CHS, you might remember me for my involvment in rock and roll bands (The High Five, Field Marshal Chan, and Try) and being interested in electronics (thank you Sam Starr), science, and math. At our 10th reunion, I got awards for having the least hair compared to the amount that I had during high school, so maybe that's memorable also. Right after CHS I attended MIT in electrical engineering, getting two degrees. I moved to Indiana, where I worked for RCA's television division for 13 years, at one point as a director with 110 people. At age 29 I married Linda (from New York), later having a daughter (now married in MA) and a son (dating, in Washington, DC). In the last 18 months in Indiana I was employed by RCA, then...Expand for more
GE, then Thomson without changing my office. I left the chaos, and started over at Bose in Massachusetts, where I've been since. I started in research, moved to automotive sound, then home entertainment, where I was chief engineer, leading 110 people again, and contributing to many of the products that you might own. Two years ago I punted on the management side, and have been a research fellow (Bose's only one), with a group of 3 people. Along the way, I've gotten 44 US patents, with more pending. I love my work, so there are no imminent plans for retirement. I'm still happily married, living in Massachusetts, with a weekend place on a lake in New Hampshire, so, as Joe Walsh sang, "life's been good to me so far."
