Rob's Story
Retired in July 2021 with my husband of 8 years, Michael O'Keefe (NYC) to the Columbia, South Carolina area and loving it.
Fortunate in many ways to have the best of both worlds having been formerly married to my dearest Helen Murray (Erie, PA) for 20 years and raised three amazing children (2 sons & 1 daughter), two of whom have made us grandparents with 2 boys.
Came to grips with my sexual identity (gay) during the course of my 1st marriage and with enormous love and support from family and friends transitioned into a 'modern family'. I am truly most fortunate of all.
Started my career in Federal government, transitioned to private industry (IBM) in marketing and transitioned into Healthcare Administration and then finally into Human Services serving individuals and running programs for persons with dev...Expand for more
elopmental, intellectual, physical, emotional, mental and dual diagnosis programs for 20 plus years, It's been a wonderful journey. No regrets.
I live an active and grateful life here in South Carolina, enjoying warm weather, good company of neighbors and friends, good health (yeah I packed on a few) and a loving husband, and when time permits having all my babies back around my knees.
My most encouraging words to live by, written by Martin Luther:
"This life, therefore, is not righteousness, but growth in righteousness, not health, but healing, not being, but becoming, not rest but exercise. We are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it, the process is not yet finished but it is going on, this is not the end, but it is the road. All does not yet gleam in glory, but all is being purified."
