Rob Rydell:

CLASS OF 1984
Hyde park, NY

Rob's Story

Well, I assume my story is not unlike many of my classmates. In hindsight, we had a great class filled with high achieving, very motivated and overall very genuine people. I have learned to appreciate that more and more as life goes on. We definitely had some fun along the way too. Like many of you, I went to school for several years, finally earning an MBA. Traveled and partied quite a bit after that until it was time to get somewhat serious. Partied quite a bit before that too??? I am married to a beautiful and extremely talented southern girl who does her best to put up with me. We currently live in Connecticut, not to far from Hartford. We have two lovely kids, a boy 7 and a girl 6 who absolutely give purpose and direction to our lives (not to mention 6 am wakeup calls). We started the kids skiing at a very young age and now they rule the slopes. We still travel around on skiing junkets although we take them with us now. I coach my sons little league team over the summer which is a blast. Nothing better than trying to teach situational baseball to a bunch of 7 and 8 year olds! l acres of property in So. VT where we spend quite a bit time camping and snowmobiling. Unbelievably beautiful up there as many of you know. If it werent so crunchy, I might be able to live there! Still really enjoy out door concerts over the summer too. Hartford has a 30k outdoor arena that gets some pretty good bands and its only 20 minutes away (close enough for cab rides thankfully). I have bounced around in business over the past 20 years, putting my time at the larger companies. Finally got tired of the politics and corporate B.S. and landed at a small, out of state firm were I am VP/General Manger of a Financial Services business specializing in Health Care. Not very sexy, but not too bad either. Never subscribed to "live to work" philosophy. Cant believe words like "retirement" are taking on a more prevelent role every year! Where did the time go? So, not much more to tell. Like everyone else, just trying to stay one step ahead and hoping our taxes dont get raised again. I have heard some some very good things about other classmates of ours and I am very happy to see that folks are doing well. Take care, Rob.
