Life
Hi! I'm a single parent of two lovely dogs! I have Kurzon, my beautiful, blonde German Shepard-love her! Then I have Maxie. He's a very handsome and smart Rhodesian Ridgeback-great pooch! Both dogs a cute as buttons and smart as whips! Hahahaha.
For fun, I work out several days per week, I mountain bike, I have done triathlons (I'm gonna get ready and do another one). I like to travel, listen to music-pretty much-I like to do it all! Anything fun, active and outside--count me in!
I'm pretty active!

Workplace
Hi everybody! Thanks for stopping by. I'm not a member, so I can't see anything. I'm a Fire Lieutenant (Company Officer) of Truck Company 19 - C, on Elvis Presley Blvd in Memphis, TN. It's very busy, so I like it. We usually have about a fire or more per work day or work set and we're also an ALS Company, which means that we also respond to Advanced Level calls and perform Paramedic level patient care. I like what I do a lot!
I worked on Snorkel 13-B & Unit 1 as a Firefighter Paramedic for 8 years before being promoted to Driver, then I drove Engine 33 which served Memphis International Airport and the surrounding community. From there, I wen't back down Town and drove Truck 2-B, a 100', 10 storry ladder truck with a basket on the end of the ladder and a pump down below (a Quint). I loved it because I was back down...Expand for more
town and across the street from St. Jude hospital where we got to frequently help out and interact with the kids there.
When I got promoted to Lieutenant, I worked all over the city, but wound up settling at Truck 19. I love it, I have a great bunch of guys and make a lot of interesting calls on a regular basis.
I've recently put in a transfer request to go back to the 7's on Truck 13, it's a 110' Bronto Skylift, a telescoping, articulating boom with a ladder that runs up the side of it and a basket on the end. It's really nice, very versatile!
I recently challenged the Battalion Chief of EMS promotional process; I believe I'm now able to ride out of rank as needed. In about the next year or two, I'll challenge the Fire Battalion Chief test. We'll see how it goes.
Earlier, so much talk about Trucks and Engines/Pumpers... What's the difference? Well, Engines/Pumpers carry hose and water. They're responsible for putting the water on the fire. As for the Truck (which I prefer), we are responsible for forcing entry, disconnecting utilities, ventilation, laddering the building, rescue, salvage and overhaul, as well as any extrication. We get to cut the cars off of people! The trucks carry ladders and tools. They are the big trucks with the big ladders or boom Baskits on top.
Well, thanks for checking this out. Let me know what you think or if you have any questions, I love to talk shop!
