Having had enough of school I joined the Air Force straight out of high school, under the delayed enlistment program as a Law Enforcement Police officer (OK, you can quit laughing now.) This gave me six months to ponder why I would do such a thing. I got married just prior to leaving and was widowed within six months. After six months of wallowing in my own self-pity, I decided a transfer would be in order. Florida! sugar sand beaches and women in bikinis. This some how got me beyond my grief.
