Robert's Story
Life
I am divorced with one son, Nick, who is the spitting image of me. After high school, I graduated from SIU-Carbondale. After College, I worked in radio for a while. I then made my way through the wonderful not-for-profit world as the executive director of Junior Acheivement of Rock River Valley. After burning myself out. I decided to give construction ago and went through the apprentiship to become a Journeyman Ironworker. A job which I enjoyed very much until I went into the "hole". in a Nursing home and 7 surgeries. I am back to somewhat normal. Besides being an Ironworker, I have served as an apprenticeship instructor for the past 9 years and have been an union officer for 10 years. I have found the perfect fit with my career. I am now the Training Coordinator for Area Erectors, the fourth largest steel erector in North America. Its nice when you can FALL into a job like that. Im single and enjoying my time alone since my son went back to school.
Workplace
