Robert's Story

I married Le Thi Phuong, the Vietnamese exchange student I met at Whitman in my Senior year. We ended up going to Bard College together and marrying in Oct. '68 shortly after my graduation in June, '68. I began a career as a spec. ed. teacher and administrator working in BOCES III and in the Harborfields CSD. Phuong and I were married for 27 years, living mainly in St. James and divorced some years ago. We had two children, a son born in '73 and a daughter in '76. My son was married two years ago while my daughter was married April 17, 2010. I retired from education and moved to a lovely "Leave It To Beaver" neighborhood in Hauppauge. ol students at 7:15 AM! LOL I have a number of interests that keep me happily busy. Primary among them is sports cars. I am a lover of Porsches and belong the the PCA (Porsche Club of America). I have been in contact over the years with a few of my old Whitman friends like Dick Hood, Ed Zawaski, and Mike Feiler. I should mention that I ended up working with John Roquel, the disciplinary dean at WW who ended up teaching technology across the hall from me at Harborfields H.S . . . . A great fellow when he wasn't assigning detention! I was not that social a guy when I was at WW so many may not remember who I am but would welcome hearing from anyone who can recall that skinny, quiet kid rushing through the halls.
