Robert's Story
Life
Hi: I am a native of Ottawa, Canada, moved to Vancouver, B.C., and returned to Ottawa, Ont., in 1955. My father was transferred to Europe by the R.C.A.F. In AUG 1961, traveling via the SS HOMERIC, we moved from Ottawa to Ramstein, where we lived on the economy in Kaiserslautern. In 1963 we moved into PMQ's near the Cdn school at Ramstein. I enjoyed the AYA and played football with the Ramstein Rams. In '63 I, along with other Cdn Students, traveled by bus each day to Zweibrucken, 3 wing, to attend grade 11. In '64 we moved to Marville, 1 Wing, and in '65 we returned to Canada. My parents moved to Bagotville P.Q. but I stayed in Ottawa and attended Grade 13 at Woodroffe High. I worked at Bell Tele for the summer of '66 and then joined the R.C.M.P. and trained at the Academy in Regina, Sask. with "V" 66/67 Troop, Reg.#25501. My first posting was Toronto where I met and married Sharon Keddy of Auburn, Nova Scotia. We have a son, (a world traveler who lived in Korea, but has since returned to Canada with his Korean wife), and a daughter, an RN at Jupiter Fla. who just recently married a wonderful Floridian, - where we spend our winters. In '70 I transferred to the RCMP Security and Intelligence Branch and continued to work in that field until my retirement from CSIS in '93. With the RCMP I had postings to Toronto, Ottawa,& Newfoundland; and with CSIS frm NFLD to Ottawa. My big interest is travel and I've taken my family to each of the lower 48 States as well as all 10 Cdn Provinces. My wife and I have travele...Expand for more

In 1999 I designed and built our retirement home at my hobby farm in Auburn, N.S. The house is built with "Blue Maxx" Arxx(styrofoam forms filled with reenforced concrete) We have a guest room should you be visiting N.S.!! Love to hear from ya'll..(updated 2011)

College
I'm RETIRED; It's stupid to be forced to answer questions like #2 with nonapplicable forced responses! Anyway...I picked up credits as I went along - through night classes. I found it a relaxing way to unwind from a stressful job.
My biggest surprise along the way was the quality of the profs at MUN, I even found one, Elizabeth, that could teach me french. Thanks to her I finally got a couple of C's and a B in the gov't language test. When I was employed I used some of what I learned, such as psyc and general management studies, on the job.
Workplace

I've been fully retired since 1993. I built a home in Nova Scotia and don't plan to move. I golf frequently, at Berwick Heights all summer, and in Florida all winter, where I stay with my daughter.
