Robert's Story

Hummm, my life for the world to see. This will definately be a work in progress... Well, after CHS I went on to get two technology degrees and a business management certificate from Dutchess C.C. After graduation I bounced around in a few different jobs then I landed a great one traveling the US and western Europe upgrading dairy plants. No ... I didn't milk any cows. It was all automation stuff. Kinda mundane but I got to travel the world and see sights that most people only dream of. The traveling was great but it put a big crimp in my personal life so after five years I moved on and took regular jobs. I bounced around again, working my way up to management were I failed miserably. Oh well, back to the hands-on jobs and I've been there ever since. Right now I'm working for Pentagon. No, not that one! This company does high tech cleaning for the semiconductor and aerospace industries. I'm the "fix everything that breaks" guy and I love it. You know, back when I was 14 someone asked what I wanted to do when I grew up. I said "I want to build and fix things." I'm living my dream now and they actually pay me for it. Cool! That was work. Now on to the other half of my life. After CHS me and Tom Boyce hung around for years. Like most young guys we tried to drink the world dry and chase as may girls as we could. Ha, those were some really good times! Unfortunately my traveling days brought a slow but sure end to that. Tom and I still see each other now and again. It always amazes me that no matter how long it was since we saw each other last when we do get together it's like no time past. They say you will only have 4 real friends in your life. He's one of mine! Those of you who remember me know I had a big time crush on D.L. but I was so damn shy I would always act like a jerk when I talked to her. Man, if I could only do it over again. She wasn't the only crush I had though. Ther...Expand for more
e was D.A., M.F., J.M.S. C.C. and a few others over the years. Let me tell you it sucks to be shy. Afterwards I dated around looking for that perfect girl to live the "American Dream" with. You know, kids, house, yard, pets, etc. Well that turned out to be harder than I though it would be but in the mid 80s I found Barb. We married in 87 and by 89 we were in the house of our dreams. It was grand! After a bunch of years we found out that kids were not in our cards, ho hum, so we filled the house top to bottom with the pitter patter of four feet. Yea, we hand allot of pets for sure and I have to say that I miss them all. I guess it's the down side of being a pet lover. We usually out live them all. Anyway, as often happens these days, Barb and I went our separate ways in 02. I'm not going to say how hard that was since most of you have probably been though it and know. At the same time Barb and I split I was laid off of work. Talk about a low point in my life. It was tough going for a few years but I hung in there thanks in big part to my next best friend Bill. Even though he has a family and life of his own he always found time to be there when I needed my friend. Thanks Bill! I finally got back on my feet in 05 when I met my current love, Heidi. We are 2 completely different people but it works great and I'm so grateful for that. She keeps me in check when I need it. Which is just about every other day. We love to travel and do it any chance we can. OBTW, we live in the very same house she grew up in. (That's another story) I think it's so cool. Can you imagine all the memories you would have? It's great to hear all her stories about growing up there. Well, that's it for now. Of course there's more but if you got this far it's probably because you had nothing else to read. I'll leave you with my favorite saying though... "We never grow up. We just get older" To be continued...
