Robert's Story
After Tolentine closed and the formation program moved to Villanova, I transfered to DePaul University, where I received a BA in Sociology and then went back and got a JD (couldn't use the Sociology for much of anything). I wanted to follow my dad and become a Chicago cop, but the hiring list was frozen in a discrimination lawsuit, so I took a job at UPS and went on to have a 23 year career there, ending up in Washington, DC as one of the VPs in the Government Affairs office. I left UPS in 1998 and joined the Air Transport Association as Senior VP for Safety and Flight Operations there in DC.
I then retired in 2000 (moving to Jacksonville, FL) and during the summers began working on a masters degree in Church Music and Liturgy at St. Joseph's College in Renssalaer, IN. n pastoral music ministry and parish work. I have one song published by Oregon Catholic Press in it's Breaking Bread and JourneySongs hymnals ("One Love Released") and getting ready for the changes in the new Roman Missal next year.
I started doing aviation consulting work again in DC in 2008 and also worked as a Circuit Court mediator here in Florida. In 2010, I returned to the DC area and currently work for the Federal Aviation Administration in the Office of the Chief Counsel, Regulations Division. Most of my time right now is devoted to getting new rules for unmanned aircraft (drones) out to allow for commercial operations. Last September I was fortunate to be chosen to sing in the Diocesan-wide choir for Pope Francis' celebration of the Canonization Mass for Fr. Junipero Serra.
I'm married to Jackie and have one stepson Michael and two grandchildren, Macy and Jackson, ages 17 and 15.
