Robert's Story
Life
After starting and dropping out of college, I went to CA and became a hippie with a beard and long hair. I bummed around for a year and then married a wonderful girl from Saginaw named Ann Henry. I went back to school and in 1977 finally graduated from UTA with a degree in Chemistry.
I worked for the Western Company of North America in a variety of positions in Fort Worth, Wyoming, Scotland, and Houston. After leaving the WCNA, I have worked in the Environmental industry, Specialty Gas business, and am now a Sales Manager for a manufacturer of soaps and degreasers used by the refining and petrochemical industry. My wife Ann teaches 8th grade english and has been teaching a total of about 18 years. We have lived in Houston (actually Spring, just north of Houston) for the past 20 years, but I still think of Fort Worth as home.
We have now been married for 35 years and have two sons. Connor is 23 and a Senior at Texas A&M and Cameron is 18 and a Senior at Klein High School. Both are great kids that I am very proud of.
I still do a little hunting and fishing, but spend most of my free time traveli...Expand for more
ng with the family. We enjoy snow and water skiing, hiking, the theater, and vacationing at new places. Since all of my family is still in Fort Worth, we try to get up there 2 or 3 times a year and I try to attend the "DHJ old timer's reunion" every April. Each year as part of the reunion activities, I play in the DHJ golf tournament with Bo Stewart, David Renfro, and John Garcia. Some of the other DHJ grads I have seen in the past few years include Donnie and Lynn Hart, Pat Fritz, Bobby Sherman, Connie Ashley, Mary Belota, Rose Whitt, Irene Balnkenship, Bobby Schartz, Denita Edgar, Steve Collier, and Susan Gonzales. By the way, this reunion is open to all past DHJ graduates.
From time to time, I still think about Diamond Hill and miss all the people I knew and grew up with. I hope you are all doing well and would love to hear from you.
Gotta go now. When I have a little more time, I'll try to post some pictures. I still like to run and work out and other than being old and wrinked with very little hair look exactly like I did in high school !!
Maybe I'll see you at the reunion this year!
