Robert's Story
Life
After Carson I went to Italy for two years on a mission for the LDS Church. When I came back, I married Leslie Allred from San Pedro. We went to BYU and I graduated in Mechanical Engineering. Went to work for Getty Oil Company (now ChevronTexaco) and have been all over the world building oil production facilities. Been with Texaco/Chevron now for 30 years.
We lived in Kuwait for 5 years where I was managing the rebuilding of the oil fields after the Gulf War. We had a life of luxury, lived in a villa on the beach, had lots of servants and plenty of cash. It was loads of fun! We traveled around at every opportunity. Last count I think we visited 36 countries during our stay there and some of those we visited repeatedly. We finally came back to reconnect with our roots. I accepted an assignment ...Expand for more
to manage the re-construction of a large dehydration facility in Bakersfield, CA. In 2007 we took an assignment in Kazakhstan to build sulfur forming facilities for Tengizchevroil. We lived and worked in Atyrau and learned some Russian. Then in mid 2009 we returned to Kuwait still working for Chevron as Project Manager. Back to the same beach, desert and familiar culture.
We have four daughters, all married now and seven (and a half) grandchildren. Lots of fun but we dont get to see them often enough.
I still love to surf, sail, ski, hike, bike, fly, dive, golf, tennis, racquetball, swim, run, exercise, and browse the web. Learning and exploring is still my most favorite thing to do. Cant ever seem to get enough! Id love to hear from any classmates from Carson. Cheers! Bob Gale (alias Barnacle Bob)
