Robert's Story
Life
Married to Charlene; we have two beautiful children, Oliver & Olivia; bands: Redd Kross, IT'S OK; track coach (hurdles & sprints), Palos Verdes Peninsula high school; science teacher, Hermosa Valley School; kindness to the cosmos
School
110 meter high hurdles: 14.56 seconds. I had the school record for 23 years, from 1983 until 2006, when Drew Johnston (whom I first taught to hurdle) broke it with an excellent mark of 14.39 seconds.
I absolutely loved high school, although I may have enjoyed college the first time around even more.

Workplace
I was actually a rock star from 1984 - 1991, signed to Atlantic Records, videos on MTV, at least a dozen national tours (took me to 46 states, 5 Canadian provinces + Mexico); locally, have played Greek Theater & Universal Amphitheater; have a guitar enshrined at the Ha...Expand for more
rd Rock Cafe, had numerous endorsement deals (including Mesa/Boogie amplification & Ibanez guitars signature prototype), every music magazine: Guitar World, Rolling Stone, Creem, Interview, even Seventeen & Young Miss (YM); I kid you not. Ah, youth.
I formed a happy, pressure-free band called IT'S OK, which I still play and record with today.
I worked for a decade primarily producing bands in my home studio, and working as the house soundman at a 451 seat performing arts theater.
Started coaching hurdlers at local high school (Daily Breeze dubbed me the "hurdles guru coach"). Loved it so much, went back to get physical education credential.
Wouldn't you know, just as I was finishing up the credential program, my old band regrouped. It seems that we are still rock stars in Spain. We played for 12,000 people there in 2006, and we returned for a tour of Spain and England in 2007.
2007, my eighth year coaching track, took one of my Peninsula hurdlers all the way to State Finals in the 300 meter hurdles!
And then guess what happened? I earned my second teaching credential, this one for science, and I am now the sixth grade science teacher at Hermosa Valley School! How cool is that, my old junior high. Sweet.
My plate is full; I have had a blessed turn.
