Robert's Story
Life
I've done a little bit of everything over the years. I worked for Copolymer Chemical Corp for a while as an emergency medical technician, and on and off in retailing. Later I was bicycle mechanic, and eventually did entertainment booking and theater production in South Louisiana. After the oil bust of mid 80's I worked all over the US, particularly the upper midwest (Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin) as computer networking specialist and computer systems administrator, mostly for the Federal Government.
I also lived and worked overseas for four years in Bahrain which is in the Middle East working for the civilian side of the Dept. of Defense with many working junkets to Turkey, Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, England, and most of Europe. That was a very exciting time. I returned to the US in November 2001. ion in Chinle, Arizona. I disability retired to Fairbanks, Alaska in 2005 but thankfully recovered my health and went to work for a software programming company in Alaska but ended up living about a hour west of Albuquerque, New Mexico telecommuting to work. Great way to work. After a period of unemployment due to the economic implosion of 2008 I relocated to Iowa in 2009 where I started working as the IT Network Supervisor for the Cedar Rapids Community School District in Cedar Rapids, IA. In 2010 I was hired as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for the VA hospital in Iowa City Iowa working for the Department of Veterans Affairs as a subject matter expert. Over the years I've been very thankful for the quality education that I received from Lake Charles High. It gave me the basic skills to succeed in everything that I've put my mind to. I look back on the years at LCHS with a great fondness and good memories of the people whom I knew.
