Robert's Story
Robert is from Wheeling, West Virginia. His schools include Wheeling High School. He worked at Verizon Communications as a cable splicer and in engineering; now retired.
Military service: Joined Navy in January 1965. Stationed at Great Lakes, IL, Portsmouth, VA, Sigonella, Sicily(near Catania), Norfolk, VA on the USS Cambria, an attack troop transport. Job was electronics technician, with specialty of cryptographic repair. Highest rating was Petty Officer 2nd Class(E5). Discharged in January 1969.
Family: Married to Irlanda Elaine Estes on 9/26/1970. She usually goes by "Sue". We have two children: Jennifer and Christopher. We have 6 grandchildren, two boys and a girl with Jenny and a boy and two girls with Chris.
Robert's interests include Maryland, WV & Steelers football. Likes to tinker around in workshop and fix or make things. Also like to take a lot of pictures of family and places we visit.

two trips to Europe with my wife, Sue, visited several countries. Also have visited various places in the U.S. Hope to do more traveling in future.
Hobbies besides travel is helping Sue with our family trees and odd & end tasks around the house.
Have had a few medical problems since retiring. Thyroid cancer, both sides removed. Ok with that, just have to take medicine forever. Infection in left side of brain, after having dental work done. Open left side of head to drain infection. OK now on that. There was about three weeks of my life I don't remember due to my sedation for that. Then I started having problems with easy bruising and extensive bleeding with even a scratch. Doctors found my red blood was very low and platelets not normal. After many tests of all sorts, found my liver was extremely damaged and cancer was also found. Took care of cancer, but still needed a liver transplant. This happened on June 21, 2012. Had a few complications, but all is well now. One more thing, I had colon cancer back in December 1986. Recovered fine from that. Hope nothing else happens, just medicine for the rest of my life, I already have enough scars for one person. Enough on the medical part of my life.
